The Maricopa County Joint Information Center is providing daily COVID-19 updates for members of the media and the general public. This is the update for June 29, 2020.

Staying home. Changing your lifestyle. Being more vigilant about germs. None of this is easy. But there is a lot of momentum building in our community, as individuals, families, businesses, and other organizations try to do the right thing to slow the spread of COVID-19. We want you to know that your sacrifice is seen and appreciated. Together, we can do this!
BUSINESS ASSISTANCE
Many businesses have had to adjust or reevaluate their plans based on the recent rise in cases. Others have chosen to take extra precautions after employees tested positive. Most businesses are trying to do the right thing, but may have questions about best practices. Public Health continues to update guidance resources for businesses on its website while also maintaining a business hotline. Call 211 between 9 am and 5 pm Monday-Friday and follow the prompts to get to the business line. Businesses may also find help at arizonatogether.org.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The first of the month is just a few days away. Maricopa County provides resources to those in need of assistance during these challenging times. From rent and utility assistance to career services, our Human Services Department continues to serve the public. Next month, the department plans to roll out an expanded rental assistance program to serve even more individuals and families. We’re all in this together!

TESTING AND CONTACT INFORMATION
With more community spread, there is an increased desire for COVID-19 testing in our community. Public Health would like to encourage you, if you get tested, to ensure the provider has your phone number. This will make it easier for Public Health to contact you if you test positive.

SIX MONTHS IN PERSPECTIVE
Public Health has been collecting COVID-19 data for the past six months. The first case was reported in late January. When the statewide “stay home” order went into effect on March 31, there were 791 total cases reported in Maricopa County. When the “stay home” order ended on May 15, our county had 6,869 confirmed cases. Increased testing and increased social interaction have led to a significant increase in cases since late May, with 78% of total COVID-19 cases reported in the month of June alone. The increased community spread makes it more important than ever to take preventive actions to protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors.

2020 CENSUS
Your community needs you to participate in the 2020 Census. An accurate census means Maricopa County will gets its fair share of federal dollars to invest in things like public health, infrastructure, and schools. When everybody counts, we all win!

Se ha quedado en casa. Ha cambiado su estilo de vida. Este más atento a los gérmenes. Nada de esto es fácil. Pero estamos en un gran momento de construir una mejor comunidad, como individuos, familias y negocios y otras organizaciones tratando de hacer lo correcto para disminuir el riesgo de COVID-19. Queremos que sepa que vemos y apreciamos su sacrificio. Juntos podemos salir adelante.
ASISTENCIA DE NEGOCIOS
Muchos negocios han tenido que reevaluar o ajustar sus planes basado en la alza de números de casos de COVID-19. Otros han optado por tomar extra precauciones después de que sus empleados dieron positivo. La mayoría de los negocios están tratando de hacer lo correcto, pero aún tienen preguntas sobre las mejores prácticas. Salud Pública continúa dando dirección o recursos en su página (en inglés) además de tener la línea directa para negocios. ASISTENCIA FINANCIERA
El primero del mes está a la vuelta de esquina. El Condado Maricopa provee recursos para quienes pudieran necesitar durante estos momentos difíciles. Desde asistencia de renta, para pagar agua, luz, hasta servicios de carrera, el Departamento de Servicios Humanos continúa sirviendo al público. El próximo mes, el departamento planea expandir su programa de asistencia de renta para servir a un más familias y personas. Estamos juntos en esto.
PRUEBAS E INFOMRACIÓN PARA CONTACTARLO
Con más casos en la comunidad, ha habido necesidad de incrementar las pruebas. Salud Pública le anima a que si se ha hecho la prueba, asegúrese de dar los datos correctos para contactarlo. Esto hace más fácil y rápido para que Salud Pública lo contacte si su resultado fuera positivo.

SEIS MESES EN PERSPECTIVA
Salud Pública ha estado recibiendo datos de COVID-19 por los últimos seis meses. El primer caso se reportó a finales de enero. Cuando la orden de “quédese en casa” entro en vigor en 31 de marzo, existían 791 casos en total reportando en el Condado Maricopa. Cuando la “orden de quédese en casa” expiró el 15 de mayo, nuestro condado había confirmado 6,869 casos. El incremento en las pruebas y el interactuar socialmente han tenido como resultado un incremento de casos desde finales de mayo, un 78% de total de los casos de COVID-19 se reportaron en tan solo el mes de junio. La propagación y más casos en la comunidad hacen más importante que nunca que tomemos medidas de prevención para usted, su familia y sus vecinos.
