A FEW WORDS FROM PUBLIC HEALTH ON THE RECENT INCREASE IN POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES
Due to increased social interaction in the community, we expected to see an increase in positive cases. We also anticipate seeing our other numbers such as hospitalizations start to increase over the next couple of weeks due to the lag in reporting. The bottom line to our community is that if you don’t have to go out, especially if you are in our high-risk categories, please stay home. There is still COVID-19 circulating widely in our community.
LEVELS OF PROTECTION
The best way to prevent the spread of the virus is to stay home and avoid contact with those outside your home. We know this is not always practical. The next best thing you can do is maintain six feet of distance from others because that is a proven way to limit the spread of droplets from sneezes or coughs that pass the disease from one person to another.
Wearing masks can also help limit this droplet spread.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The first week of the month can be a stressful time for families as bills come due. We want to remind you that if you are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the State of Arizona.

HOW MARICOPA COUNTY IS HELPING
Maricopa County departments are stepping up to meet a variety of needs during the pandemic. The County is using its buying power to get personal protective equipment where it is needed most. We are also providing safer spaces for individuals experiencing homelessness and populations at higher health risk, and we are getting healthy local food to students who typically get their meals at school. Additionally, the County continues to provide the services it would during ordinary times including animal care, elections, libraries, and permitting.
DANGEROUS HEAT
Extreme heat will continue into tomorrow with an excessive heat warning in effect through 8 pm on Thursday. If you’re planning to be outside, avoid going out during the hottest part of the day, make sure you know the signs of heat illness, and drink plenty of water. And, with more people age 65 and older staying home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, be sure to check on elderly family and neighbors if you can.

MENSAJE DEL DĺA: 4 FORMAS DE PROTECCIÓN A CONSIDERAR PARA LA REAPERTURA
Los Centros de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC, por sus siglas en inglés) han dado a conocer 4 pilares básicos para los negocios y organizaciones a considerar durante la reapertura de sus negocios.
MENSAJE DE SALUD PÚBLICA DEL CONDADO MARICOPA CON RELACIÓN AL AUMENTO RECIENTE DE CASOS POSITIVOS DE COVID-19
Debido al incremento de personas que están interactuando en la comunidad, esperamos ver un aumento en los casos positivos. También anticipamos ver que los números de hospitalizaciones suban en las próximas semanas debido a que hay retraso de cuando la información llega a salud pública. Al final de día, el mensaje sigue siendo el mismo para la comunidad, si usted no necesita salir, especialmente si es de alto riesgo quédese en casa. Aún está circulando COVID-19 en la comunidad.
NIVELES DE PROTECCIÓN
La mejor manera de prevenir la propagación del virus es quedándose en casa y así evitar el contacto con los que no viven con usted en casa. Sabemos que no siempre es esto posible, por eso debe mantenerse al menos seis pies de distancia unos de otros porque está comprobado que es la mejor manera de disminuir la propagación cuando uno estornuda o tose. El uso de las mascarillas también limita que el deshecho de gotitas al estornudar caiga en alguien más.
ASISTENCIA FINANCIERA
La primera semana del mes es cuando hay más estrés para las familias porque tienen que pagar sus deudas. Le queremos recordar que si usted está batallando financieramente por la pandemia de COVID-19, usted pudiera ser elegible para asistencia financiera del estado de Arizona.

En estos tiempos difíciles, los Arizonenses están ayudándose unos a otros. Tanto individuos, organizaciones y negocios están respondiendo al llamado a servir.

COMO ES QUE EL CONDADO MARICOPA ESTA AYUDANDO
Los departamentos del condado Maricopa se han unido para suplir las necesidades durante la pandemia. El condado está usando su poder adquisitivo para obtener el equipo de protección personal que se necesita. También estamos proveyendo espacios más seguros para las personas sin hogar y la población de más alto riesgo de salud, y estamos otorgando comida saludable a estudiantes que típicamente dependen de la comida de las escuelas. Además, el condado continúa proveyendo servicios como en tiempos normales incluyendo el cuidado de mascotas, elecciones, bibliotecas y permisos.
CALOR PELIGROSO
El calor extremo continuará hasta mañana con una advertencia de calor extremo hasta las 8pm de este jueves. Si usted está planeando estar afuera, evite salir durante las horas más calientes del día, y asegúrese de saber cuáles son las señales de enfermedades por el calor, y beba suficiente agua. Y para las personas mayores de 65 años, es preferible que se queden en casa por el riesgo de la pandemia de COVID-19, asegúrese de contactarlos a ellos y vecinos para saber que estén bien.
