HAVING FUN AND STAYING SAFE
There’s no doubt about it: holidays are different this year. It may feel like everything’s off limits, but the truth is, there are ways to have fun and stay safe. Whether you’re considering a picnic, a family cookout, or another get together, try to keep your gatherings to fewer than 10 people; consider being outdoors instead of indoors; keep distance between yourself and others; follow mask regulations; and, of course, stay home and away from others if you’re sick.

#MASKUPAZ
Because of the dramatic increase in COVID-19 in our community, Maricopa County is requiring masks for all residents in public places. The regulations approved by the Board of Supervisors create minimum mask-wearing requirements across all jurisdictions while allowing cities and towns to set their own policies and regulations related to face coverings. DO CHILDREN HAVE TO USE MASKS DURING INDOOR SPORTING ACTIVITIES?
The county’s mask regulations exempt “settings where it is not practical or feasible to wear a Face Covering.” Public Health does not advise wearing a mask while exercising. We hope business owners and parents will evaluate the ability to maintain physical distance and make educated choices regarding the practicality and feasibility of wearing a face covering.
HOSPITALIZATION NUMBERS
The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) tracks hospital capacity. You can find data listed on this page under “Hospital COVID-19 Specific Metrics.” According to the ADHS dashboard, Maricopa County currently has 2,650 patients hospitalized for COVID-19. We can all help ease the burden on hospitals and medical professionals by taking personal protective measures to reduce our risk of getting or spreading COVID-19.
TRAVEL
Many of you probably want to get out of town. Unfortunately, travel increases your chances of getting infected and spreading COVID-19. This weekend, and beyond, staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick. If your 4th of July plans do involve travel, take a look at the guidance below from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Parks
The Tonto National Forest is now closed to the public because of fire danger. This closure also impacts parks and trails in Maricopa County which border the Forest.
Environmental Services
It’s mosquito season. If you’re outdoors this weekend, make sure you’re taking steps to protect yourself.
Human Services
The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 11% in June as the economy added nearly five million jobs, but we know many people are still in need of job assistance.

DIVIERTASE Y MANTÉNGESE SEGURO
No hay duda alguna: los días festivos este año se celebran diferente. Pareciera que todo está fuera del alcance, pero la realidad es, que existen otras maneras de divertirse y estar seguro. Ya sea que usted este considerando una comida al aire libre, una carne asada en su reunión familiar o algún otro evento, recuerde mantener las reuniones a no más de 10 personas. Considere mantener distancia entre usted y los demás, siga las regulaciones de las mascarillas, y por supuesto, quédese en casa y alejado de otro si está enfermo.

LISTO, PREPARADO #ENMASCARADO
Por el incremento tan drástico de casos de COVID-19 en nuestra comunidad, han hecho que el Condado Maricopa requiera a todos los residentes usar una mascarilla en áreas públicas. Las regulaciones aprobadas por la Junta de Supervisores requieren el uso de la mascarilla en todas las jurisdicciones y a la vez las ciudades tienen sus propias pólizas y regulaciones relacionadas a las mascarillas. Si usted desea reportar una violación, contacte a su departamento de policía local al número de no emergencia.
¿ACASO SUS HIJOS TIENEN QUE USAR MASCARILLAS DURANTE ACTIVIDADES DEPORTIVAS DENTRO DE INSTALACIONES?
La regulación de mascarillas tiene excepciones, en ambientes donde no es practico el usar la mascarilla. Salud Pública no aconseja la mascarilla mientras se está haciendo ejercicio. Esperamos que los propietarios de negocios y padres de familia evalúen el distanciamiento físico y tomen decisiones correctas y prácticas cuando se trata del uso de la mascarilla.

El Departamento de Servicios de Salud (ADHS, por sus siglas en inglés) sigue de cerca la capacidad de hospitales. Encuentre estos datos aquí. De acuerdo al tablero de ADHS, al momento en el Condado Maricopa tiene 2,650 pacientes hospitalizados con COVID-19. Todos podemos hacer nuestra parte para reducir el número de personas en los hospitales y dar alivio al personal médico tomando medidas preventivas para reducir el riesgo de propagación de COVID-19.
