The Maricopa County Joint Information Center is providing daily COVID-19 updates for members of the media and general public. This is the update for April 24, 2020.

ONE UNITED MESSAGE
Public health community partners who work with vulnerable populations around the Valley are coming together with one united COVID-19 message: Stay home as much as possible. These partners work with children, seniors, people with disabilities, and people who speak other languages. They meet regularly with Public Health to stay connected about health issues that impact the communities they serve.
WHERE TO FIND HELP
We know a lot of community members are struggling to make ends meet right now. Find Help Phoenix compiles free and almost free services specific to Maricopa County that may help during these challenging times.
HELPING THE HOMELESS
As temperatures heat up, Maricopa County is working to get individuals experiencing homelessness near the Human Services Campus into safer situations. In many cases, Human Services Department staff are making contact with people who haven’t engaged with services before, figuring out who they are and what needs they may have. The county is working to find shelter for as many as possible, focused on those with health conditions.

THE 100-DEGREE QUESTION: DOES HEAT KILL COVID-19?
With temperatures expected to soar into the triple digits for the first time all year, Public Health wants to remind you that there is currently no scientific evidence to support the idea that hotter temperatures kill COVID-19. It’s simply too early to know for sure. What does kill the virus? Washing your hands thoroughly with soap.
COUNTY AGENCIES AT WORK
Parks
Maricopa County Parks and Recreation is making additional changes at Lake Pleasant ahead of what promises to be a hot weekend. No entries will be allowed between 11 am and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Library District
County libraries rolled out a new curbside pickup program this week. Our cameras went along to see how easy it is to Click It, Park It, and Pop It.

UNIDOS POR UN MISMO MENSAJE
Salud Pública del condado Maricopa colabora con agencias que sirven a comunidades vulnerables en el valle. Y se han unido para mandar un mismo mensaje de unidad durante esta pandemia de COVID-19 de quedarnos en casa lo más que podamos. Estos socios de salud pública trabajan con niños, adultos mayores, personas con discapacidades y poblaciones que hablan otros idiomas. Este grupo de agencias se reúnen con frecuencia con Salud Pública para planear y conocer el impacto de la temas de salud en las comunidades que representan.
DONDE ENCONTRAR AYUDA
Sabemos que muchos miembros de la comunidad están teniendo dificultad para subsistir en estos momentos. Encuentra Ayuda Phoenix es un sitio web que reúne a servicios gratis o casi gratis en el condado Maricopa y pueden ser útiles en estos momentos difíciles.
AYUDEMOS A LAS PERSONAS SIN HOGAR
A como las temperaturas suben, el Condado Maricopa está trabajando para mantener a las personas sin hogar que están alrededor del campus de servicios humanos a que estén en condiciones más seguras. En muchos casos, el personal del Departamento de Servicios Humanos está en contacto con las personas que aún no cuentan con servicios para ayudarles a encontrar de acuerdo a sus necesidades.
LA PREGUNTA DE 100 GRADOS: ¿ACASO EL CALOR MATA AL VIRUS DE COVID-19?
Con las temperaturas que subirán en los 3 dígitos por primera vez este año, Salud Pública le recuerda que no existe evidencia científica que confirme que las temperaturas más calientes matan a COVID-19. Es demasiado temprano para saberlo. ¿Pero qué es lo que si mata el virus? Lavarse las manos con agua y jabón.

Parques
Los parques y áreas recreaciones del condado Maricopa están hacienda cambios adicionales al lago Pleasant ya que se espera un fin de semana caliente. No se permitirá la entrada entre las 11am y las 4pm el sábado o domingo.
Distrito de Bibliotecas
Las bibliotecas del condado cuentan ahora con un programa para que usted solo estacione y recoja su material. Es fácil ordenarlo, estacionarse y recogerlo.
