The Maricopa County Joint Information Center is providing daily COVID-19 updates for members of the media and general public. This is the update for April 26, 2020.

DOES HEAT KILL COVID-19?
With temperatures expected to soar into the triple digits for the first time all year, Public Health wants to remind you that there is currently no scientific evidence to support the idea that hotter temperatures kill COVID-19. It’s simply too early to know for sure. What does kill the virus? Washing your hands thoroughly with soap.
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM EXTREME HEAT
Phoenix summers are some of the hottest on the planet, but spring and fall can be just as dangerous. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the great weather, just follow some simple tips to avoid a heat-related illness. Drinking plenty of water and using sunscreen is a great start. But there is so much more to keeping yourself, family, and pets safe in the extreme Arizona heat.

County libraries rolled out a new curbside pickup program this week. Our cameras went along to see how easy it is to Click It, Park It, and Pop It.
Air Quality
Customer service counters are closed, but the Maricopa County Air Quality Department is offering a variety of options for people who need a permit or have other business to conduct with the department.

Arizona @ Work offers support for job seekers and employers. You can find resources online, or you can make an appointment at one of our Maricopa County career centers.

¿ACASO EL CALOR MATA AL VIRUS DE COVID-19?
Con las temperaturas que subirán en los 3 dígitos por primera vez este año, Salud Pública le recuerda que no existe evidencia científica que confirme que las temperaturas más calientes matan a COVID-19. Es demasiado temprano para saberlo. ¿Pero qué es lo que si mata el virus? Lavarse las manos con agua y jabón.

Los veranos de Phoenix son unos de los más calientes del planeta, pero tanto la primavera como el invierno pueden ser peligrosos también. Eso no significa que no puede disfrutar del buen clima, simplemente siga estos consejos para evitar las enfermedades relacionadas al calor. No se olvide beber suficiente agua, usar crema protectora para el sol. Para evitar ser víctima del calor extremo en AZ, infórmese y siga las sugerencias de salud.
