TODAY’S KEY MESSAGE: YOU HAVE MORE TIME TO APPLY FOR A BUSINESS OR NON-PROFIT GRANT
The deadline to apply for a Maricopa County Relief Grant has been extended to October 30, and organizations operating in Phoenix and Mesa can now apply! Your business or nonprofit may be eligible for up to $25,000 to cover financial losses incurred during the pandemic.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Getting a COVID-19 test can bring some peace of mind during a time when all of us are extra-aware of our own flu-like symptoms, as well as other people’s sneezes and coughs that could send the virus our way. If you’d like to know for sure before you head back to the office or visit family members, consider stopping by one of our free testing events.

SYMPTOM CHECKER
Is it the flu? COVID-19? Something else? If you’re feeling sick, you don’t have to ask Dr. Google. You can take a look at our symptom checker instead (look for the box on the right side of the screen). Simply answer a few questions, and the symptom checker will tell you the likelihood that you have COVID-19 and if you need to seek medical care. If you are advised to isolate, you can use our home isolation decision maker tool to determine how long you need to do so.
FLU SHOT SKEPTIC?
If you’re one of the folks who are hesitant to get a flu shot this year because you never get the flu, or you don’t think the vaccine works, or you don’t think it is a big deal if you do get the flu, consider getting vaccinated for your community instead.
Remember:
- Getting the flu shot is one more preventive measure we can take to help “flatten the curve” of respiratory illnesses this fall and winter.
- When fewer of us get the flu, we preserve valuable healthcare resources for those who truly need them.
- It’s one of the best ways to support frontline health care workers at a time when they continue to treat COVID-19 patients.

FUNERAL ASSISTANCE
Thousands of families in our community have lost a loved one to COVID-19. Maricopa County’s Funeral Assistance Program provides some financial help to these families during what is an incredibly difficult time. Through the program, people can qualify for up to $1,200 to be applied to burial or cremation services at a participating licensed funeral home.

ENTERESE ANTES DE IR
El hacerse la prueba de COVID-19 puede darle tranquilidad especialmente ahora que tenemos que cuidarnos también de los síntomas de la gripe al igual que los estornudos o tos de los demás que pueden acarrear los virus. Si usted quiere estar seguro antes de regresar a la oficina o visitar a familiares, considere hacerse las pruebas en eventos gratuitos.

REVISE SUS SĺNTOMAS
¿Es la gripe, COVID-19 o algo más? Si se siente enfermo, no tiene que preguntarle al Dr. Google. Vea por usted mismo en el auto autoverificador de síntomas. (Ver la caja del lado derecho de la pantalla). Solamente conteste unas preguntas, y el autoverificador le dirá si es COVID-19 lo que podría tener y si debe buscar ayuda médica. Si se le aconseja a que se aislé, por favor lea la guía de aislamiento para determinar cuánto tiempo necesita estar aislado.
¿ES UN ESCÉPTICO DE LA VACUNA CONTRA LA GRIPE?
Si usted es de las personas que no es de los que les gusta ponerse la vacuna contra la gripe porque nunca se enferma de la gripe, o no cree que es importante si se enferma de la gripe, considere vacunarse por su comunidad entonces.
Recuerde:
- Vacunarse es una medida preventiva para ayudar a bajar los números de enfermedades respiratorias este otoño e invierno.
- Con menos personas que se enfermen de la gripe, preservaremos recursos invaluables para quienes realmente los necesitan.

ASISTENCIA PARA FUNERAL
Miles de familias en nuestra comunidad han perdido a un familiar por COVID-19. El programa de asistencia funeraria del Condado Maricopa provee algo de ayuda financiera para esas familias que están teniendo problemas y momentos difíciles. Con este programa, las personas pueden calificar hasta $1,200 para el entierro o servicios de cremación en las casas funerarias participantes.
