TODAY’S KEY QUESTION: IS THE DECREASE IN COVID-19 CASES RELATED TO THE DECREASE IN TESTING?
Maricopa County is now averaging fewer than 500 new COVID-19 cases per day. At today’s press conference, Dr. Rebecca Sunenshine explained how we know this trend is not simply due to fewer people getting tested.
COVID-19 MITIGATION EFFORTS ARE PAYING OFF
Stay home when you’re sick and whenever you can, wear a mask, and keep six feet of distance from others. Because so many of you are heeding this guidance, we all have more ability to interact in our community.
COUNTY PROGRAM PROVIDES NEARLY $1 MILLION IN RENTAL ASSISTANCE IN FIRST MONTH
The Maricopa County Human Services Department is helping hundreds of residents struggling to pay rent because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the County COVID Rental Assistance (CCRA) program launched on July 15, more than 300 households have received a combined 662 months (or $993,000) of paid rent. At today’s press conference, Human Services Director Bruce Liggett told personal stories about a few of the people who received help from Maricopa County when they needed it most.

For many families, back-to-school planning looks a little different this year. Your child’s school likely has new policies, schedules, and methods of instruction. Looking for some help to get the year started off right? CDC has a checklist for parents, whether your child is going in-person or attending school virtually.

HOW TO WASH MASKS
A key part of mask effectiveness is to make sure you are washing it after use. Cloth masks should be washed daily. You can wash it by hand or throw it in the washing machine with your normal laundry load.

Animal Care and Control
Licensing your dog is the law in Maricopa County; it also supports programs that help us save more homeless pets. Residents are asked to license their dogs online or call 602–506–7387 for any questions regarding licensing.

Board of Supervisors
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors continues to hold public meetings to discuss and vote on county business. The latest formal board meeting was held today. Members of the public can watch meetings live or at their convenience by visiting Maricopa County’s YouTube page.

PROGRAMA DEL CONDADO PROVEE CERCA DE $1 MILLON DE DÓLARES EN ASISTENCIA DE RENTA EN SU PRIMER MES
El Departamento de Servicios Humanos del Condado Maricopa está ayudando a cientos de residentes que tienen problemas para pagar la renta durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Desde que el Condado lanzo el programa de asistencia de renta por COVID-19 (CCRA, por sus siglas en inglés) el 15 de julio, más de 300 hogares han recibido una combinación de 662 meses de renta pagada haciendo un total de 993,000 otorgados. En la conferencia de prensa hoy, el Departamento de Servicios Humanos dio detalles.

Para muchas familias, el ciclo escolar empieza de manera muy diferente. Su escuela pudiera tener nuevas políticas, horarios, y métodos de enseñanza. COMO LAVAR LAS MASCARILLAS

Junta de Supervisores
La Junta de Supervisores del Condado Maricopa continúa llevando acabo juntas públicas para hablar y votar en asuntos del condado. La más reciente reunión formal de la junta se realizó hoy.
