Workforce Center @ Mesa Offers Comprehensive Career Services at No Cost

Maricopa County Join Forces with A New Leaf, and the City of Mesa
Career seekers in the East Valley looking for employment and job skills training now have a new location to access these services, and much more, through the new Workforce Center @ Mesa, 635 E. Broadway Rd., officially dedicated today.
The workforce services offered by Maricopa County are co-located in a facility where A New Leaf and the City of Mesa also offer programs, making this collaboration an example of a comprehensive service delivery model that provides local communities a valuable access point for a wide variety of services beyond employment support.
“I’m extremely proud of the fact that through this partnership we have already been able to work with 148 of our Mesa residents, providing them the skills they need to take advantage of employment opportunities in industries that are in demand,” said Jack Sellers, Maricopa County District 1 Supervisor. “This comes on the heels of the County’s announcement to fund $12 million in apprenticeships that can be accessed right here through this facility.”
The Workforce Center @ Mesa offers services to individuals and employers at no cost. Career seekers can receive assistance with their resume, benefit from career guidance, apply for grants, get matched to apprenticeships and employment opportunities as well as access a variety of support services including assistance with childcare, rent, and utilities.
“When I go out and speak with residents in my District, I consistently hear from people that dealing with higher prices and inflation is causing strain,” said Maricopa County District 2 Supervisor Thomas Galvin. “My colleagues and I have prioritized funding for resources and collaborations like the Workforce Center @ Mesa that facilitates direct access to services, programs, and career pathways that allow people to better support themselves and their families.”
Employers that collaborate with the Workforce Center @ Mesa can receive referrals to qualified candidates, have their job openings posted to the job board, and participate in recruiting events- all at no cost.
“Businesses tell us that their number one concern when choosing where to locate is workforce, and this new center will not only help to meet that need but will also offer new pathways to those looking to develop new skills and find job opportunities,” said Mesa Mayor John Giles. “This partnership with MesaCAN/A New Leaf and Maricopa County ARIZONA@WORK is an ideal way to maximize resources and connect residents with meaningful work opportunities, and I appreciate the collaboration in service to our region.”
In addition to providing career support services for 148 local residents in the last 90 days, the Workforce Center @ Mesa has been able to host four hiring events featuring Mesa businesses that are in-demand industries, which resulted in over 50 job placements. Other services available at the facility include a professional clothing boutique where career seekers can go to select from gently used professional attire to ensure they make the right first impression for their next employment interview. “I am thrilled to be celebrating the opening of Workforce Center @ Mesa. This community asset provides resources for residents to pursue employment opportunities and helps guide them towards promising careers,” said Vice Mayor Jenn Duff. “Education and workforce opportunities go hand in hand, as both are essential factors for the prosperity and vitality of a community.”
